Hi all,

Long time no post.... Good to be back again...

Anyways, I took my deckboat out for a spin after sitting for a month or so.
The tilt/trim was sluggish going up/down then just stopped working. The relays were making the clicking sound. Tilt worked fine last time I had the boat in the water.

As a solution I replaced the old wire running from the relays to the trim motor. I did have to splice and butt connect the wires. I used electrical grease in the connections, heat shrinked, then used the plastic paint on coating stuff to cover the heat shrink. I used 10 guage wire.
The old wires had been spliced and butt connected
3 times by the previous owner. I didnt like all the splices in the wires.
As a reminder, when I first bought the deckboat I had a tilt n trim problem and posted here for a fix. The great members here helped me and I traced the problem to a corroded wire at the trim motor. I spliced and butt connected that connection which solved the problem (2003 I think). Thinking a wire may be corroded again, I decided to replace both wires due to the several butt connections in line.

THIS DIDNT FIX ANYTHING....

The relays still click.
I made a jumper wire and connected to fully charged battery. I jumped the green then the blue wire at the relay connector with the relays removed. It kinda moved for a second, made a humming kind of sound but no real movement. It started to move once then stopped.
The relay connectors were covered in the black/brown tarry stuff. Thinking good contact was not being made, I cleaned the connections of the socket and of the relays. This made no difference.
I checked the fluid level, it was full or nearly so, I topped it off anyways.

I do not have a circuit tester and my digital electrical meter quit working. (sux to be me)

I did a search here and read 15 pages of tilt n trim post.

Whats next?, replace the relays at 15 bucks each ?

I'm thinking I'll buy or borrow a circuit tester and see if juice is getting past the relays.

If so, It looks like my problems may lie in the tilt/trim motor. A rebuild may be in line for it.

Any suggestions are appreciated, I'm broke atm so the most efficient fix would be nice.
BTW, I just put the deckboat up for sale as my 16 year old would like a car. I have a Trailblazer the wife drives but the 16 year old doesnt like to drive it, to big for her.

If anyone wants to trade a good late model economy car like a Toyota or Nissan for a nice 22' deckboat let me know. The deckboat is worth 7k or so.
