was wondering if this is ok as i can slide alignment tool in all the way with ease but the angle of the tool makes it look like the back of the motor would be to high..
is there a rear mount to adjust or is it just the ones on each side of the motor... 1998 four winns 4.3 gl sx outdrive.
Can you pull down some on the gimbal housing? It doesn't look fully trimmed down and because the drive and hydraulic rams are disconnected, it "sprung up" some? If it slides, you should be okay?
Yep, don't worry about the angle of the bell housing there. Your "U" joints are between the gimbal bearing and the drive bell housing. They will adjust to the angles. As long as the engine is lined up with the bearing your good.
By eyesight it does not look correct, perhaps an optical illusion. But if the tool slid in the engine coupler easy you should be good.
The best way to check is to coat the tool`s end with a slight coating of grease and slide it in the coupler, then withdraw. If the spline marks are even around the tool end then you are indeed straight. If the spline marks are longer on one side of the tool then you are not truly straight.
