I Have a 75 115 V4 with a new fuel tank and line. When I run at half throttle or above the primer ball sucks flat and the engine drops down to idle. I have to pull the throttle back to idle for a minute until it reinflats and then I can go again until it happens again ( every 30 sec. or so)

Re: Question about fuel line

Is the vent on the tank open? Is it an OMC bulb with a dual checkvalve?

Re: Question about fuel line

If the ball sucks flat...it's a problem from the bulb back to the tank. Could be pick up screen getting plugged.... or bad bulb check valves. The primer bulbs are cheap enough I would check the pick-up screen in the tank and then replace the bulb.

There is a way to check the bulb.... just not sure how...

Re: Question about fuel line

Easy way to check the bulb is to release line from motor (use a paperclip to keep line open if it's a quickfit connector), hold bulb upright with arrow on bulb at the top, and squeeze a few times into a can. You'll feel the bulb pulling fuel as it reinflates, and of course fuel will pour into the can.

If it doesn't reinflate, the problem is between tank and bulb, and is usually a restricted vent or crud in the line somewhere. To check that out, remove line from tank. When you squeeze bulb again with line removed, if it reinflates, the problem's at the tank. If it doesn't reinflate, the problem's the bulb.

If you have a filter/water separator between bulb and tank, this needs checking out also.
