I am having trouble finding a head gasket for Johnson qd 18 part number 0301862. I figured Sierra would have them.

Second, is it a good idea to change the head gasket on these old engines even if they seem to be fine?

If compression numbers are good there is no reason to remove the head.-------Salt water motors is a totally different story.

Thank you. Compression numbers are good, and motor runs great, so I will leave well enough alone. Are head gaskets no longer available for my favorite Johnson?

Sierra does not make one. Still readily available though. Available at your local dealer (if they are not grumpy!), any of the vintage outboard supply sites online, or PM me if you ever need one. I sell some OMC parts for the pre 1970s motors.

Good old flea bay! I would buy these 2 up to hoard! Good deals.

Thanks Hi Trim and Racerone. Think I buy a couple and put them on the shelf.
