Q6SF - Gas issue ??

I have been having an issue with my Q6 for a little while where it starts fine when cold and idles fine. I can give it throttle and take off to my destination running 4900 rpm and 52mph the whole way without any issues. Once I arrive, the idle is junk, and remains that way until the engine is cooled off. Occasionally I will have problems reaching max rpms again after my initial run. However, this last weekend, I was able to run out at 4800 rpm on my second run, but with a BAD idle.

I have added starbrite to this tank of fuel, and have run it down to about 1/8 of the tank.

Need a little more info. Carb or fuel injected? Any problems on starting when the engine is cold?

Update: It seems as though the top end problems are gone, and now it's just strictly an idle issue. The idle gets constantly worse the longer it idles until it oges dead. It takes about two or three minutes to go from 900 to 650 rpms at idle, then dead.

Could it be a bad gas or fuel separation issue?
Like what idle your fuel intake is sucking in water or part fuel/water and at speed and on plane you're sucking in good gas.

I am thinking more on the lines of temperature. Does it happen when the engine is cold?

You might think gas filter. The filter will be a screw on type looking like an oil filter. Follow the smallest line from the tank to the motor, the line will connect to the top of the filter base. Be sure to replace with a fuel filter and not an oil filter

The first thing I would check and change is the GAS filter. Other wise , get a scan tool and check for sytem error codes. My second guess if it's not a clogged fuel filter would be fuel pressure/pump.
