The livewells for these two boats seem really small. Has anyone wished they had bigger ones? Why?

Yeah...those live wells are kinda small. More like a live bait tank. I keep a 88 quart Igloo with an aerator on board when I fish and take it our when I'm not. It gets in the way when there's more than three people on board. Again, this is something you'll have to compromise with.

Re: Q5i/Q6 SF Livewells

The size of the livewell on the Tahoe's is bothersome. Why build a special model for skiing AND fishing, yet cut costs with a tiny livewell? Get this, the Q5i SF has a 14 gallon livewell yet the Q6 SF has a 11 gallon livewell. I'm not very thrilled about bringing a special aeriated cooler on board for larger fish. This could be the deciding factor for us to choose a different brand. We're big into walleye and northern pike fishing so a livewell of this size won't cut it. Does anyone know of a different brand of Ski/Fish boat in a similar price range?

I shopped around a LOT before deciding to buy Tahoe and all of the sport boats I've looked at, had small livewells. Especially boats with I/O's. You may want to consider a boat with an outboard which provides more room for what your looking for. Have you looked at bass boats converted to F/S?

Wanted a Ranger but couldn't afford the price tag and then there is Triton which was more in my price range.

But, of course...in the end, the family won and I had to settled for the sports boat.

Re: Q5i/Q6 SF Livewells

Unfortunately, I've searched around looking at numerous sports boats in the 20'-21' range but most brands do not offer a ski/fish version. Tahoe is about the only "factory" option. We split our fish and ski time 50/50 so I may have to accept the tiny livewell and go with a auxillary aeriated cooler anyway...

An outboard motor is out of scope for us because the wife wants a complete ski deck platform for laying out and showing-off her bikini. Either way, I win!!!

Love how you compromise.

Good luck with your decision to purchase a boat! Whatever brand you decide on, I know you'll have plenty of fun fishing, water sports or just cruising the waterways.

the small size i can adjust to. some days there is nothing to put in it. my biggest dissapoinment is it not having an aerator. and it pumps slow.

My Q3 has an 11gal live well and it's ok for most of the fish here locally. However when I'm in Tennessee striper fishing it's used for bate and the ski well is used for fish.I put a plastic rubbermaid like tub that fits in the well and I put a bag of ice with the fish. It works great and keeps the fish slime contained and is easy to clean up.

That's a great idea (ice in the ski well), however, it may not be feasible in the summer months, which is when I'll fish the most often. It's still a good idea though so I may try it in the fall and spring.

That's a great idea...Making use of all available space. This may work for a live well, too. Just got to find a nice portable container with a lip so the water doesn't spill out and rig up an aerator & pump to it.
