I have a 2005 Q4SF with a 190HP vortec V6, the 4.3. So I am doing a lot of trolling lately for crappie. Well the 12V system with a single battery just wont last better than a couple hours max, the battery is new. There is a single trolling battery mounted in the engine compartment just in front of the removable dry box. I would like to put a 2nd battery in this area but am having a problem trying to get it to fit. The best I can find is directly below the compartment, however the dry box is to deep and there is not room for another battery under there. Unless I could find a shallower dry box?? There is not really room behind the drybox towards the rear of the boat as the trim pump is right there, and the gas fill/vent lines. I have tried to move the trim pump some but the fluid lines are not really long enough to move it far.

The start battery is on a lower platform, right next to the engine. I have looked at putting it there but the gas lines run right there and I would have to have those resting on top of the battery after installation. I am sure others have added another trolling battery, what did you do to make it work?

After I get this done I would be moving to a wireless troller but that raises another set of questions for a different thread!

Let me know what you have done. Thanks.

Paul thanks for the help. I really have to figure this battery setup out first though. On my '05 Q4 it will take a custom machined mounting plate for the trolling motor mount. I think Billet will be able to do what I need, my mount will need to be lengthened and widened from it's original dimensions to accept the quick release plate of the new wireless mount.
