can anyone tell me if the wires and plug behind my glove box are for a cd player i dont think it came factory with glove box and where can i find a plug to go from cd player to the plug on my boat

You will probably have to wire this yourself, I woudl be pretty suprised if a 2010 cd player worked with an '86 plug, stereos generally have a plug specific to them, memory serves cds were still pretty new in '86.

It isn't too hard, red is power black is ground and a little experimenting willget you the speakers.

Your new CD player will come with a connector and wiring harness. If there is a plug for an old radio, you will have to cut it off and connect the wires from the new harness to the original wires. If this confuses you, take it to a car radio shop, they will know how to connect it.

No, you will not be able to just "plug and play". You will have to wire it up yourself.
Your new CD player will have a red, yellow, black, blue, and speaker wires.
Yellow is for the constant power supply, hooked to the battery. I suggest adding an inline fuse.
Red is for a switched power supply, usually like an ignition switch. I wired mine into a toggle switch so I didn't have to have my gauges, and whatnot powered just to listen to the radio.
Black is your ground wire.
Blue is for an accessory like an amplifier.

Just follow the install instructions and you'll be fine.

Honestly, no way I'll put a CD player in a boat any more. The better move is to replace the radio/stereo with a new unit that lets you plug in a USB memory stick. You can pack a LOT of music on a 2 or 3 gig memory stick and they are dirt cheap. (CD's are so easy to damage on a boat and in heavy chop the players tend to skip a lot. Condensate in the CD player is not good either.)

I agree and thought about posting that. The only thing I would add is that some stereos will accept an SD card as well and the SD card doesn't stick out as far with the risk of being damaged.

West Marine was selling "Dual" brand stereo for about $100 that would take either, but no CD. A complete kit with speakers.

Ok thanks for all the info it doesnt sound like it will be to hard to do. Ill prolly be back on here once i get it started to ask for somemore help

My new Rockford doesn't have a cd, it is an ipod/radio and is really cool, you can get tons of music on it and as mentioned, cds are so easily damaged, especially on a boat.
