I'm thinking you're talking about the connecting rods and referring to the wrist pin bushings that go between the piston wrist pin and connecting rod?
If so, I'm no JW-15 expert but I believe there are definitely bushings and when they're bad, it's going to let that piston slap around and not give good compression. If you got it to run, you'd hear a lot of knocking in that powerhead and I don't think it would ever reach wide open RPM.
It would eventually throw the connecting rod, I suspect.
Then again, you may be talking about something else.
