Should be easy, if you can find the parts. All of the 25 HP models in 1974 list an electric starter and it looks like all of the flywheels have teeth on them.

Would it be difficult to convert a old Johnson (Sea-horse 1974 25hp) from a pull start to a push start?

Real easy the starter new is about $65,The solenoid is easy, I found the mounts few and far between and if you can get one less than 80 bucks used you scored. All on ebay

That would be awesome. That kind of money though I don't mind pulling the string. I need the workout and the money for the bait. Thanks again sir!

Any motor over 20HP I buy. I always install elec start, not only do they sell faster I like to elec.start early morn and get out fishin once its warmed its a one pull start,I always leave the manual start on with the elec,I would rather buy without elec start so I get the hood set up for the manual start and the manual start rewind starter.

Ok. So let me get this straight. For $80 I could install some do-hickeys so that I would not have to pull a rope to start my engine, I could push a button? Could you offer some further explanation.

No, he said that you may be able to get the starter bracket (used) for $80. It is available new for $247, PN 317328. A new factory starter is $252, PN 385401, but there are probably new aftermarket ones that will work for much less. There would have to be a starter solenoid, push button switch and wiring added.

Ok. Thanks for your time. I think I will stick with the rope pull. That's a pricey upgrade.

Thats up to you, it actually is a low price,I install it on every motor and the motors that are on my boats have starters,There nice! I only use them when leaving the dock especially morns when its cool once their warm and ran I can fish a few hours and the pull start is easy they fire right up,Its that lets get out fishin in the morn when its handy.

Even if you did this, you would need a way to stop the motor as well so add another push button, or install a keyswitch. No buttons needed. You might be better off looking for a toasted electric start engine. You would end up with nearly everything you need for probably less money.
