Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... You mention just hangin' out on the boat, at the dock,......
You could always just launch the boat, tow it to yer dock, 'n party away on it,....
Buy a kayak or something to paddle over to a neighbor's boat party,....

Btw,.... The 23'er has more potential than that little tri-hual, especially on bigger water,.....'n not runnin', it ain't worth nothin' near the askin' price,....

I would add, fixing up my boat was one of the more satisfying things I've done. The sense of accomplishment and the knowledge I have of my boat are really priceless. There were times during the rebuild where I was not so happy, though...

I'm a little late in the conversation, but your attitude is refreshing. I have one restoration under my belt, plus a new build from scratch.

At the tender young age of 19 I decided I "needed" a boat. Dad, Grandpa and Uncle helped build her. At the tender old age of 60 I decided I "needed" a retirement project. Below is the start of the new hull back in 1968, and the finished resto in 2009.

I say go for it.....
