I did that same conversion on a 1991 9.9 Evinrude a couple years ago for my dad. He couldn't pull the starter rope anymore.
Did alot of research online and here on I-boats. Found everything I needed thru online buy&sell sites for a small fraction of what the kit was worth from the dealer. Think I spent about $200.
I needed a new flywheel, starter motor with mtg bracket, ignition push button, neutral start safety switch, battery cables and a battery. Took me a couple months to gather all the parts but like you, I had all winter to get it done.
