Protecting the front keel

Don't know if this is the correct terminology but here it goes. The nose of my boat has worn through the paint from shoring the boat"my grandad did not like to get his shoes wet" I plan to re seal with gel coat or equivilant . Then i thought about running a strip of clear 3M rock guard down the front and under for extra protection. this is the stuff you see accross the front of hoods to protect paint. Any thoughts appreciated.

Check out products called KeelShield and KeelGuard, Glutton. They are specifically designed to protect keels when beaching.<br /><br />Good luck.
