" Prosessing " a donor boat. Best way?

I'm pretty sure I've found my donor boat. '86 Four Winns with a 3.0 Alpha. Nicely kept boat with in tact mooring covers and such, but is rotted. Owner states soft floors and we know what that means. Probably Worth fixing if I were a fiberglass guy but my Offshore V 18 is twice the boat and I like tin
I know I'm going to salvage the swim ladder platform because that will be nice, and the entire running gear will be harvested because I need that stuff. I'll be left with a ton of good stuff I have no use for.. what do people do? I hate throwing away good stuff but. I have a few weeks to take carer of it

Sell/give away can be time consuming and often not worth hassle unless it's a revolving setup of harvest, clean, sell and repeat.

I wonder how 'good' the interior from a 16' 4 Winns would fit a Starcraft Offshore. I know at least the seats would work. My dad also has an Offshore V 18 that the interior is wrecked on but he wants to get it back to the water at some point.

Most of the value is in the running gear and helm controls.

If you can use the seats sure why not typical back to back seats - I imagine you may need to make new bases for them but this is simple carpentry, helm seats are even easier.

Parting out cars I kept too many items that had no to little value and end up tossing them down the road...

I think I will give the seats to my dad. His offshore needs them. Mine had a full interior restoration just before I obtained it.
I just dug into mine ( Starcraft ) more than I ever have. Couple wires to nowhere and I don't see the round plug. Almost think it's bypassed. The engine 'appears' to be hooked up but the carb is seized and the old fuse block is laying in the battery compartment. I found the carb problem out when I bent the bell crank advancing the idle tab on the controls... So I'll need to straighten or replace that too.. I did bar the engine over and it turns still.. But I've been thinking about swapping the complete Alpha one 3.0L package.

Part out what you want. Then put it on the front lawn with a sign "FREE". I am amazed how many boats like that I have seen and they are gone in a day or 2.

PS - just don't give away any paperwork - you don't want a paper trail.

So I have a junk old Holesclaw trailer that I think will fit a 16' boat. Needs a new tongue ( slight bend ), coil overs and some other stuff that I opted to replace it for my little Starcraft. I do want to keep the winch stand for my girlfriends fathers boat trailer ( which only has a rope pincher type thing and a place to chain it. No winch or place for one )... But I've actually thought about strapping down the hull to that with a free sign, and no paperwork.

We’ll i just got it home. Beautiful shoreline trailer worth what I paid. The seats are wise bayliner series basically new. Engine runs smooth as butter

If I actually wanted a nice compact bow rider I’d restore it. But it’s too bad. Even the mooring covers are perfect. Transom sounds hollow, floor is mush

I want to pull the entire everything out of this boat. Wiring, gauges. Drive, engine and install the package into my StarCraft complete.

Well. Now after this set for a time it’s getting soon I will tear it apart. Getting married and buying a house got in the way.

I’ve figured the shoreline trailer is going to fit the Offshore with a longer tongue and some adjustment. Just titled that in my name and put new tires on it. Gotta replace one bearing and pack the other side before I can tug it back to the workshop

I’m also thinking of using the windshield on my 1966 Holiday 14 to get rid of the bubble windshield. It would fit dimensionally if I narrow the center window to 5”. But the Holiday 14 has a slight curve in the bow sheet metal. Not really sure if it would work that way. I won’t feel bad if the windshield goes to junk but not if I can use it


At this point. Being able to use the trailer, and the entire driveline to replace a part that was $200 less than the cost of the boat. I’m looking at everything realistically being free once I factor a dump fee into the mix

In our case, having kids increased the amount of boating time. Today, both of our boys have boats of their own.

OTOH, in our case Iphones had not been invented yet. If they had been, they would not have been allowed in the boat.
