Proper paint for hull

I recently did some light patchwork on the stern section of my hull. I applied the fiberglass resin, I've started sanding it, etc, and my question now is the paint.

Whats the proper paint to be used on the stern section of the hull...or the entire hull for that matter. I'm looking for a paint can answer vs having to do a large paint booth type of paint job. I'm hoping I can tape off that swath that I patched and simply paint that area.

btw: thanks for the info on the stern shield...I'm going to look into that once this is all done.

Interlux makes a brush on 2 part paint that is supposed to be good. If it were a month from now I would tell you how it works.

Interlux also makes a single part Polyurethane called Brightside. I painted my entire boat with it 2 years ago and have been very pleased so far. I sprayed mine but can be brushed also. About $30 a quart best I remember. Good Luck.

Dave...

I believe brightside is for above the waterline use only. If you need to paint a spot on the hull that is below the waterline, you'll want to use the correct paint. I have not seen a one-part paint for this purpose, although I am not an expert on paint.

Interlux Perfection works really well and is designed "roll and tip" paint application.

as long as the boat does not sit in the water, antifouling is not needed. Interlux perfection for a harder wearing or brightsides for easier appliaction.

cheers
