Hi,

I've just purchased an aluminum boat with a 1986 6hp Evinrude outboard motor (model no. E6RCDE). This is my first boat/motor. The previous owner didn't have the manual for the motor and I can't find it online.

1. I was wondering if someone here could give me the proper operating and maintenance procedures.

2. Do I run my motor with pure gasoline? (Or with a gas/oil mix? How much gas and oil? What type of oil?)

3. I didn't see an oil gauge under the motor cover!

4. How about lubrication?

5. Winterizing?

Thanks for your time.

Re: Proper operation and maintenance procedures

This board subsection is for repair topics, but:

Your motor needs 50:1 TCW3 oil mixed with the gas.

If you motor has grease fitting, hit with marine grease at least once a year.

Change gear oil once a year, in the fall.

Fog motor with fogging oil available at any dealer.

Lubrication is largely from oil mixed with the gas.

You can order an owners manual from outboardbooks.com
