Hei Skarven,

Here's the Norwegian importer's description of your engine, (i.e. both the 40 and the 50 HP; http://www.kellox.no/index.php?id=12633 ), and both are supplied with a 3 blade 11.5 X 13" propeller. Are you certain that your tachometer is not playing tricks on you?

On a separate note, that Ballistic may not be the best propeller as it seems to ventilate (suck air) quite easily. Have you maybe tried contacting WinRace ( http://www.winracepropellers.no/ ) to try a Turbo or a Stiletto propeller?

Also, you may find props to be a lot cheaper in the US, and easy to import via Jetcarrier.

Hei og takk for svar! (Thanks)

I have now tried a original 11 1/4 X 13 and the speed increased about 1,5 knop. But the rpm is still to high (6400)

Do I need a 14 or 15 propeller for reduce rpm 400? Will a stainless prop give the same result in rpm?

Hello again,

You'll need to lower RPMs by about 400, which would equal approximately 2 inches higher pitch. See this link: http://www.boat-props.com/info/prop_info.cgi?page=rpm and http://www.ybw.com/ybw/honda/how.html

Going from a stock alu prop to a steel prop, often with more aggressive cupping, will lower your RPMs further but it is hard to say exactly by how much before trying. The added cupping will give an increased bite and a slightly higher speed / efficiency as well. Different brands and designs of props will behave differently, so it's hard to compare & predict exactly across brands.

The following props might work well (but I am hoping Walleyehed will chime in here): link or link

Delivered via Jetcarrier to your doorstep or post office, the Turbo prop will be about NOK 1950 and the Solas about NOK 2120, including the overseas freight, Norwegian VAT and customs clearance.

Re: Propeller Size BF45, 4 blades to 3 blades...?

I have now an original Honda propeller (11 1/4 * 13) and this give me an rpm of 6500. What rpm will I get if I buy a 10-1/8 x 16 Powertech Semicleaver??

I have also tried a Ballistic prop with 10 1/8 * 13 with bad luck (6800-6900 rpm). The shop who sells Ballistics say that the 10 1/8 * 15 also will be to light. They say that rpm only drops about 200-250 rpm if I buy the prop with 15 pitch…

I hope to reach 6000 rpm on full throttle.

Help!
