Hi, I’m new to forums and boat ownership so I’m sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, I recently acquired a 2004 Carolina skiff dlx 17 with a 2004 50hp Johnson, and I’m wondering if I should resize my prop at WOT its pushes 5800rpms at 29mph with a 3 blade 12 1/4 15p prop with no damage. the engine manual states max rpm is between 4500-5500 and my other question is will boat have problems getting on plane if I go with a higher pitch, the boat will plane out pretty quick with just me in the boat it does does take a few seconds to plane with a additional person sitting at the front of the boat. The boat is used mainly for fishing the intercostal waterway and local fresh water lakes

Thank you

The WOT RPM is a bit high but not bad.
Be careful not over rev, if you go up 2 in in pitch the RPM would go down about 400 RPM.

Would I have problems getting on plane with more pitch ?
As long as the Boat isn't underpowered for its Weight, and Load, you should be fine.

Edit: Is your engine a 2 Stroke or a 4 Stroke?

because of this statement, I would leave the prop where it is
