Prop question?

Currently I have a 14X17 Stainless prop on my 4.3 20ft. Cheetah 2000LS. It has a great holeshot and runs really well. The only problem I see is I have to be careful when using WOT. It planes very quicky and the rpms rise very quickly. I have to be careful not to go above the max rpms. (Being the only driver, this isn't bad) My local boat guy said I should prop to a 19. What do you think?

Re: Prop question?

If you go with the same manufacturer and style then the 19 may be what you need. Kinda hard to say since we don't know what the actual rpms are nor the actual make / model of the prop. 3 blade or 4?

Re: Prop question?

Sorry about that... It's a 3 blade. The max rpms on 4.3 are 4600-4800. I would go over that if I didn't watch. Yes, had it happen when I first got it 5100 rpms. I need to check the manufacturer this weekend..

Stick with the same brand and model in a 19 stainless would put you at about 4,700 probably lose some hole shot.
