Prop nut torque.

I have a 1977 85 hp Johnson outboard.....What is the proper prop nut torque? Also the head has a stripped out spark plug hole....already tried the heli coil.....anyone have an extra head theyed like to sell?

The use of a cotter key would prevent you from using a torque wrench. You will need to back it off to line up the hole most times. So it would be near zero. Just give it a few lbs till it stops turning and then back it up to a hole. When I had outboards I would back it off about 1/4 turn so the prop would move about 1/8 inch when shifting gears. I checked it several times a season and if it was getting stiff to move I would clean and regease it.
