My old Minn Kota model 65 trolling motor has a plastic prop nut that has broken. Looking to replace it with metal one. Searched all over for the thread specs, even the MK website, only part numbers, no thread info.
It has the 3.25" dia motor housing, can't believe the thread spec is a big secret. Anyone else replaced their plastic prop nut and what is the thread.?

  • This kit will fit most Minn Kota trolling models with 70 lbs of thrust or less from 1991 - Present. These models will have a black composite shaft from the lower unit up to the head unit.
Parts Included in this kit:

1 - Shear Pin 1/8" Diameter Stainless (2092600)
For Use With:
- Minn Kota 30-70 lb. Thrust Models.

Just so the info is out there there's one other size mentioned but it seems to fit bigger motors vs your setup and that is part number 2093101...
While searching, the following statement from the link below it seemed to be a concern so wondering what shaft type is on yours?
This prop will only work with motors that have a black, fiberglass, composite shaft that goes from the lower unit up to the head unit. If your trolling motor has a chrome shaft this prop will not fit.

Many thanks, but it has a different pitch than a std 5/16 thread. Gonna have to drive over to the shop and get my thread gages and measure. Was hoping someone might already know. Shop is a 30 mile drive each way...guess I am cheap...

Did find a 5/16" fine thread nut (5/16-24) I think that us it for the prop nut. The one I found was messed up a bit but just chased a tap thru it and when the storms stip, I will go check it for sure. It does make sense they would use a fine thread due to vibrations and all.
