82 60 hp Johnson, 17' Hourston Glascraft
returning home through choppy water, the boat was suddenly not making any forward progress. The engine still was revving like under load and still in gear. I pulled it out of gear (was stiff and obviously still under load) and dropped the throttle. After a moment or two inspection and finding nothing at the prop, I put it in gear and at just above idle got back into the inner harbour where again I tried full throttle and it seemed ok. Once the prop has hit something?? is it considered spun and in need of replacement? or are they designed for this type of "release" several times before damage. Thanks for any help.

No, Grant. Once the seal is broken they need to be rehubbed.

Your local prop shop can do it for under $50.

Good luck. :)
