I need some advice from one of you prop experts:

I have a 19' deckboat with a Johnson 140 hp 4-stroke.

Currently has a Johnson prop, 14 X 21". The prop is slightly dinged.

When loaded with just 2 people and 1/4 tank of gas, top speed at WOT of 40mph at 6100 rpm. The problem is, the only time I've ever run the boat with 2 people on board is for the above WOT test. Usually there is another 600 lbs of kids aboard, plus gear etc. Once the boat is fully loaded, at WOT top speed is 32 at 5400 rpm.

I'm thinking of repropping with a 14 X 19" aluminum oem prop, but I can get a stainless Stiletto for another $80 which I would be willing to do if the performance, especially out of the whole when pulling a wakeboarder, would be better. The problem is the stainless props from both Stiletto and the OEM are either 18" or 20" pitch. Which one should I go with instead of the 19"? I'm not worried that worried about top speed, I just want the boat up on plane faster when pulling a rider.

Thanks in advance.

Gary

Props are an easy changeout and if you're going to get one for pulling wakeboarders with a full load of passengers, get the 18" pitch and keep your current one for those solo runs.Just don't exceed the manufacturers recommended WOT rpms.
