prop for pontoon

I have a 24 ft pontoon with a Yamaha 115, 2 stroke. I am looking to purchase a new prop because current one overheats the motor, it was originally on a deck boat. Any good websites to use for picking props??

Props aren’t generally known to cause overheat. Unless you mean it’s causing the engine to over rev significantly sky high.
It may be more likely your engine height setting is the cause of the overheat perhaps.

Or a bad impeller. Check your impeller if you haven't in a while. As for your prop. Look at the recommended WOT rpm for your motor and if your'e in that general area, it is not your prop, which wouldnt really cause it to overheat, but more of a over speed. Check where your outdrive is in the water also. Heres a handy diagram. Im not sure about a pontoon. Its gonna depend if its a tritoon or a regular two tube pontoon, where the outdrive sits. Thank you for your reply, i have a 2 tube pontoon, the yamaha motor and prop came of a hurricane deck boat which we scrapped out and installed on my current pontoon which we rebuilt.

Also, all boats have a recommendation for HP. Is the outboard the same size as the previous one, or at least close?

the outboard that was on this pontoon was a 90 hp.

As you haven't tached current motor as usually loaded won't ever know if current prop is a nice water performer. Test the combo as usually loaded on flat calm water cond and report max wot rpm achieved to go from there. If having overheating issues and the overheating alarm is chimming it definitely the motor sits too high on transom, has already developed serious cooling issues or a combo of both mentioned escenarios...

I have a 24', '07, pontoon boat, 25" tubes. I put a new merc 115 hp, CT on it last year with a spitfire (merc) 4 blade, 14x14 prop. With just me on board I'd get 26-27 mph @ about 56-5700 rpm's....that being said..
All the previous advice above needs to be addressed, specifically why the motor is overheating ( how do you know), and what rpm are you turning..
My pontoon boat needs longshaft motors and even my new motor( which is a long shaft) ended up needing to be at the lowest setting.
And my results with my prop, and I'm trying a 14x13 come spring, and my boat may not be what you need......

also, there is a placard, usually, on a boat that gives the maximum HP rating for that boat. It may not be the motor that came on the boat...
