That's the problem. People "think" but don't analyze. Not to be critical, but when choosing a prop you choose one made for your engine. Assume there was enough clearance to install a 20 inch prop. Do you really think that would work out ok? No it wouldn't. Engines are designed with small, medium and large gear cases. The gear ratios in those cases and the HP of the engine dictates the approximate diameter props that can be fitted. If you look at prop specs, as pitch goes up, diamter comes down a bit. Conversely as pitch goes down, diameter goes up a bit. It is called "design" -- so you don't shop for specific diameter props. YOu shop for one that is designed for your engine and pick the PITCH you need. Diameter will take care of itself.
