Bct, I have same boat and just put 21p prop on to replace stock 23p. Got on plane quicker, less bow rise and really didn't lose any top end speed. About 50 mph/ 4700 rpm at WOT. Feels alt more responsive to me. Do you have any smart tabson your boat?

usually would,nt post great improvements when i raced sleds, but im out of racing now and tried the boat today and was impressed. 55mph and still climbing. with much quicker excelleration, very happy. did,nt get a chance to look at r,s was amazed at how quick i got to 50 and still climbing playing with the trim. usually would,nt tell my secrets when racing sleds,, but anyone with the Q5I 4.3 would be missing the (boat) so to speak to not try this prop. very happy. glad i went with it. dan lol,,, oh **** i didnt mention which prop,,lol

GPS or speedo? Please share which prop this is? I'm curious as I tried many props and could not get to 50mph on a GPS with the same boat.

was not on gps. but, speedo never got above 45 bouncing to 47 -48 on perfect conditions. the word is this prop is for acceleration and pulling power, not top end. and on not so good conditions with this prop it went to 50 quickly and kept climbing to 55 (on speedo) and was still going when i let off. great improvement. thats 10 mph on the speedo,,, the prop is a mercury high 5. apparrentely likes this hull design. happy boating Q5I guys

I run a 19p high five currently and it is like a freight train out of the hole. Top speed on gps around 42mph with speedo in the high 40's (not accurate at all). I agree, best prop I have tested on the Q5i. Maybe a 21, 22, or 23p would get close to 50 but I doubt it will keep climbing past 55.

Surprised your RPM's were so low with your stock prop - my 2012 seems like with 4 people it keeps around 4700 - although its hard getting a good reading because of the huge range on the gauge.... why does it go up to 7-9k??!?! hard to get a good reading (quick glances down) while flying at 45mph!

I was thinking about adding a blade....but adding 2....hmmm - those are SS props right?

bct, my 2 cents worth. I have a 2006 Q4 SF with the same 190hp motor as you. I had a 19p 3 blade stainless that was too low and I rev limited every time I opened her up. I bought a Turning Point Hustler, 4 blade 21p from here at iboats after someone knowledgable pointed me towards it and have been extremely happy with it. Hole shot now is absolutely awesome and now at wot I get 49mph indicated on speedo and 4800rpm (that was with 3 big blokes, plus 2x large eskies full of ice / fish and gear). I do have the smart tabs fitted and she handles like a dream. Definately fit them as they take away any bad handling (slow speed wander, high nose rise at take off and porpoising) and you can't believe the difference.
Cheers

Hey PV, I have the 2008 Q7i with a 5.0 @ 300 hp and 18" Enertia. I get about 4800 RPMs at WOT with that prop. What are your RPMs reading at WOT? That prop may be too much for the 4.3 and Alpha drive. On top of the motor, there should be a multi-colored sticker on what your limits are. I would not exceed those.

BCT...what were the rpm's w the new prop at WOT and the gps speed (if you can get one)? My experience is that the speedo gauge is off at the least 5 mph. Example, gauge shows 50 mph - gps speed is 42/43 mph.

JMO...You have one heel of a prop for the size boat/engine. I would get a accurate reading of your current WOT rpm taking into account that you are running your boat with a pretty heavy load, keep in mind where the WOT rpm would rev to with a light load. For 4 to 6 people in the boat and wanting to pull 2 people I think that is way too much prop for your engine size....again JMO. I would recommend maybe a 3 or 4 blade SS (19 to 21p) and experiment from there. Glad to hear your enjoying your new Tahoe!
