I bought a 1978 Procraft 1500, Trailer, and 85hp Mercury for $400. The floor was rotten and will need to be replaced. I will have to replace all the wiring including the wiring in the engine. The first step is to build an engine stand. After I remove the engine from the boat I will literally remove the top of the boat to see if I have any rot in the stringers. The pictures acutally make the boat look better than what it really is. You can check out my project at: PROJECT PROCRAFT

Good Luck Plugger.

Looks like a nice boat and a good boat/motor combo. Consider using my suggestion about glassing stringers in first, and then surfacegrinding and glassing them to boat.

Looks like a good project. Does the engine run, and how about some pics with the cowel off?
Good luck and have fun.

Re: PROJECT PROCRAFT

My cousin told me that the engine ran before he put the boat up. It's been sitting behind his house in the woods for 3 years. There are all kinds of critters crawling around in the compartments. I can't wait to see what I will find when I pull the top off. I just hope there are no termites. I will take some pics of the motor soon.

Re: PROJECT PROCRAFT

I had Wasps, Spiders, and Carpenter Ants in my project boat. I thought it was ironic considering I am an exterminator.....
