I have a profile 2000 winch on my shorelander trailer I can't get the center bolt out to pull the gear and replace the strap am I missing something or isn't the bolt supposed to just slide out after removing the nut cause it won't budge

It should be a smaller diameter bolt than the center bolt. Slightly off center. If the winch is similar to other traditional winches. A picture of your winch would make it easier to help.
bolt is most likely rusted in place due to the wet strap. try turning the bolt. you may have to cut it off like I did on my old shoreland'r trailer with the profile 2000
