Problems with Tahoe's fixed?

I am in the market for a fish and ski and had settled on a Tahoe Q6 until I started reading about the numerous problems with Tahoes on these message boards. Gelcoat issues, hull problems, fit and finish, electrical, etc. Most of those seemed to be boats from 2006 and prior. Does anyone know whether the 2008 and later Tahoe's have been improved from a quality standpoint? Also, does anyone know why they discontinued the Q6? Thanks.

I have some of the same issues with my 08 Q5, it is a late year model as well... I doubt Tracker has corrected all of the problems.

I have a 09 Q5i that has been in salt water over 10 times. I have not had any issues with it thus far (knock on wood). Hopefully I dont see any of these things. I will keep you posted.

Sounds like your asking for an opinion, so here's mine. I have a 2006 Q6 S/F and have had zero issues with it. Tahoe has probably sold tens of thousands of boats and you only hear about the onezies and twozies that have issues. I think Tahoe makes a quality product for the price. I have looked at the 2009 and 2010 models and they continue to make improvements and are staying competitive with comparable brands.
Go for it and just make sure you inspect the boat carefully before you buy. Good luck.

Re: Problems with Tahoe's fixed?

Here's my .02 worth. I have an 08 Q7i S/F. I have had a couple very minor issues that the dealer took care of without question or hesitation. A lot of what you read about is as mccownk says, one or two people have had some big issues and didn't get quick or complete resolution. A lot of that has to do with the dealer they used too. The big box Tahoe retailers (Bass Pro and Gander Mtn) are more about the sales than about any kind of service.

If you want top end form and fit with zero blemishes and a superior name, then you should expect to pay $10-$20 thousand more for your boat than I did for mine. However, at the end of the day, I still took my family out and had a blast tubing, skiing, cruising or whatevering, and I still have enough money left over to do it all again the next day.

It's all in what YOU want out of your boat. As for me an my family...we love our Tahoe.

I agree with the two previous posts. You can look up my 2008 Q5 review from my very first post.

I believe it is a very big plus to have a dealer who looks after you and you can trust. Going into my third year we still love our boat!

Totally Agree with the three previous posts. I have a 08 Q6 that I bought brand new last season for a nice discounted price to make room for the 09's and have loved it so far.

If we get enough of us putting our two cents in well be able to buy some advice before long,so here is mine as well. Have a 2001 Q3 S/F. Ret USN CPO touched on what I feal is the main issue on boats,Dealer!!! I had issues with mine over 18 mo. and over 1000 mile of towing it around.Needless to say the issue was resolved but not by the mega store,So do some research and go to a reputable dealer and have fun.

Re: Problems with Tahoe's fixed?

I just took delivery of a new 2010 Tahoe Q4SF yesterday and have gone over it with a fine toothed comb. It's in near perfect shape as far as I can tell. No construction issues that I can see so far. I've yet to take it out on the water since it's too cold here to do that for a few more weeks.

I purchased from Skipper Bud's in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Definitely go with a big boat dealer and not a basic store, you will have a much better experience and they are better equipped (and more experienced) to service your boat if/when you need it.
