problems with power on turns

We have a 16 foot aluminum boat with a 65 horse power mercury engine. This problem happens in both situations when pulling a person and when empty. I will be making a sharp turn and the boat seems to over rev and then lose perpultion. Do I not have enough power or is there no real answer to fix it? thanks!!

Do you have trim? If so trim down some. Sounds like in your turn your prop is almost out of the water.

How high is your av plate in relation to the keel? Sounds the motor may be little high to me, Or could be as simple as having the wrong prop.

Sounds like cavitation to me.
If the motor is properly mounted, could be solved by repropping.
How sharp of a turn?

Sounds like ventilation to me as well. Most boats will eventually "blow out" in turns if your turning real sharp. Trim down if applicable and slow down some so the motor/prop can grab more water.
I had bad ventilation on my stock Merc Black Max prop and recently switched over to a Turning Point prop of the same pitch and diameter and it made a huge difference, it didn't eliminate all of the ventilation but it certainly improved it.
Check out my thread "My" review of TurningPoint props in the prop section, it has a lot of info about this prop, engine height, cav plate height etc. You may find some tips that will greatly help you? Good luck.......Irv964
