I have a 2000 model Mercury 200EFI. It runs well most of the time. Occassionally, it hits a dead spot at 3000-4000rpm--more often at 4000. It runs fine at all other speeds. Mechanics at local dealerships can't find the problem---the warranty is almost out. Can anyone help---any ideas?????????

By dead spot, do you mean it stalls-out?

------------------
I'm no expert, but I DID sleep at a Holiday Inn last night!

By dead spot I mean that it's as though you turn the key of and immediately back on. The engines drops 500-600 rpms, then picks back up and runs smoothly. It happens only around 3-4000 rpms---more often it's dead on 4000.

pbaldree, you are still in warrantee yet... if your selling dealer wont or cant rectify the problem, you have several options to still get warr. backed repairs. call mercury 920-929-5000 ask for warr. dept. or consumer affairs. tell em the prob and see if you can get a regional factory tech to look at your boat at the selling dealership[if your still seeing eye toeye with them]otherwise ask the factory for a reccomendation of another dealer in your area. the important thing is to get the prob do***ented in warrantee.....even if it isnt fixed right away it should get covered[we all hope!]
