problems with ignition in my quick silver remote control

I have a 1994 mercury outboard 2 stroke 3 cylinder. We had a no name broken remote control we got a quick silver remote control and took the ignition from our old remote control now the boat won't start do we need a certain kind of ignition for our quicksilver remote control

You are not give must information about controls, did it have a color code . the quicksiler could have a kill switch without any ser number or picture no one can help you ! will the motor turnover? need more infor!

We took our boat out and it works fine but the way the previous owner has a steering was set for trolling on the side of the boat we foundthis uncomfortable. Our first project was to change the steering wheel did that. we also had replae the remote control lever. we bought a new/used remote control from a boater exchange but it did not have an ignition in it so we took the ignition from our old remote control which has no information regarding the make or model. all our wires are color coded and matching. could this be the problem why are boat won't start we took our boat out a few weeks before an engine runs great super clean when we turn the key it just makes 1 click noise thanks for your help can you tell we just got our first boat lol
