problems with idle

hi all i am a newbee i have just bought a 60 hp vro johnson with ptt it hase been owened by the same bloke all its life the compression in each pot is 130
i have put three new plugs in it i have had all the carbs off cleaned them all and blew them out with the compreeser it starts with the coke then cuts out ifi am out fishing it goes like a new engine loads off power its just

please help thanks

Ernie, the link and sync is a good idea anyway - get the OMC factory manual and it will help a lot. The 60 does have an adjustable idle air bleed, so that may need adjusting as well.

When you cleaned the carbs, did you run a small wire through the idle pickup tube? It's pretty small and clogs easily. Also, if the carbs were really dirty, you may need to remove the core plugs and clean out the idle passages - there are 3 or 4 really tiny holes, and they, also plug easily and you need to clean them out with a very thin wire.

hi all thanks very much for all the info i have cleaned the carbs two times i have set the timming set the air screws and the engine is running the best it has ever run in its life see i am a desiel fiter i am used to working on volvo perkins lorrys cars etc and the two stroke is very different:):):)
