Somewhere there is a discussion on prepping and painting outdrives (I have it printed or maybe on a thumb drive somewhere but not with me right now). That process goes something like this; 1. bead blast (not soda or sand), 2. Alumaprep, 3. Alodine, 4. Epoxy Primer (PPG DP-90), 5. Finish Coat (PPG 9000) and 6. Clear if needed (for base clear). That is what I will be doing in a few weeks. Emphasis was on Alodine as a bonding agent between the cleaned aluminum (cleaned using Alumaprep) and the epoxy primer. I got my Alumaprep and Alodine at an Autobody and Paint supply store.
