Hi
I have a 2014 F70LA yamaha that stalls every around every 10 min at idle or within a minute when im at 4000 RPM with a 6CJ-8591A-02-00 controller. I swap it out with my brothers controller a 6cj-8591A-00-00 and it works fine. I buy a new controller a 6cj-8591-02-00 and the problem comes back. The 02 is the replacement for the 00. Does anyone know what the upgrades they did from the 00 to the newer 02 version that can be causing this? Did they change some parameter or something that tightened tolerances or something that now gives me a failure? Wondering if anyone out there has seen anything like this.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated. I would like to buy the same old version but I cant find it out there.

Thanks

Yamaha calls that the ECU. Engine Control Unit.

How long did you run the motor with your brothers ECU?

I would suspect that you have a wiring or connectivity issue. The odds of two failed -02-00 ECU's is nil.

I actually tried it more than twice because I could not believe it. First I ran it in a tank for about 20 minutes. Then I actually took it out fishing by Fishers Island and had no problem with it. After that I bought the 2nd 02 model and the problem is back.

I thought it could be a wiring issue also with the harnessing connectors behind the ECU. They all look like new, at first it look like one could be crooked but I straightened it out and checked the connections. Ive actually changed between the three modules I have several time with the same results. I see the ebay 00 module but Im scared of a used part. I was thinking if I knew that in the 02 model they changed something like the over rev protection that it might actually be pointing to a bum sensor that the 00 doesnt pick up as a failure. Does anyone know if these ECUs have any diagnostic codes? or is there way of testing the ecu?
Thanks for you thoughts
