Problem with a '74 9.9

When I try to throttle up quickly the engine thumps like it hit something, I can ease up to full throttle and it runs fine.

The hub in the prop may be slipping. This is usually called a "spun hub".It can be repaired for under 40 dollars in most cases.<br /> Try to locate one you can "borrow" to check confirm that, or buy a used one. A spare prop is a nice thing to have laying in the bilge,even if it is never used.<br />Just knowing it is there if you need it is relaxing
