After having a incident where I flooded my engine w/ salt water through the risers, I elected to install small aftermarket extensions under the risers...No more water in the engine but the engine Merc. 350 I/O now overheats @ 4000 rpm..The overheat happens dramatically.....It returns to normal slowly after dropping the rpm back under 4000....any ideas ???

---------------------------------------------
You didn,t say if new risers were installed, you my have to boil them out or ck the alinement of the extensions with passage holes or a weak water pump or you my have disloged some sentiment and you need to flush the system out or are the butterfly's Located down the discharge tube in good working order they should have prevented any seawater from backwashing into the engine. Good Luck
-----------------------------------
