Primer Bulb

I searched around but couldn't find this. I have a 1984 70hp (model #e70elcrd, sr#J0395590). How do I test to see if fule is getting from the can through the bulb to the motor end of the connection? I tried pumping it up then pushing in on the ballbearing but nothing happened. I that the right way?

No and you can get fuel in your eyes doing that not nice I assure you.If the fuel line is working ok the primer bulb will go hard as the pressure builds up in the fuel line.If the bulb stays soft you are drawing air somewhere
