Prime the system

Good morning,
I just replaced my fuel pump and fuel/water separator, do i need to prime the system in my 3.0L mercruiser?

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Not really, but prefilling the filter eases the process,....

Thank you, i don't seem to be pulling fuel from the tank to the filter, anything else do you think i should look at?

Ayuh,.... Prefill the filter, fuel pumps don't suck air, but will suck fuel,....

After extended layup , I use a squeeze bottle with tapered/pointed lid to fill the carburetor float chamber. There is a vent tube at the air intake horn.
