I was just wondering about the different prices of the gas we use in our boats. I just read a reply from Mike NZ and he said 12 gallons of gas was about 70.00. If the exchange rate is 2NZ to 1 US then that 12 gallons cost about 35.00US. What are you paying for gas? Ft Worth Texas is about $1.35 to $1.39 for 87 octane.

Re: Price of Gas

RICKRICK1,
We have two petrol ratings and one diesel.
Petrol 91 octane = $1:14c per litre = $5:17 per gallon.
Petrol 89 octane = $1:10c per litre = $4:99 per gallon.
Diesel = $0.685, per litre = $3:10 per gallon.
Yes it's dear so we have to be very careful to use it wisely. If I fuel my boat full then it costs about $100NZ with oil. Thats good for either 130km's travel or a days fishing.
You could half the price to make it American Dollars at present.
Yes it hurts mate!
Ross

I don't know about in the cities but in Maple Lake it just went down to $1.49 from $1.59 per gallon. There is a discount station in Delano where I work that got my fill-up last week at $1.41. But now they are the same as here. THANKFULLY AND RESPECTFULLY>>BART SR.

Been paying about $1.39 in Virginia for 89 octane. Of course that is the price if you can tow your boat to a regular gas station. Gas prices at a marina are much higher.

I think their 87 octane was $1.45 or $1.49.....

Here they tax the crap out of gas.... When all the oil B.S. was going on, regular was about $1.85 and poor ol' me was paying around $2.05 for super at the El-Cheap-O stations to fill up the Bottomless Pit on the ol' Blvd. Battlewaggon.. :p

What bad news, so if you guys are paying say $1.50 per gallon and the Kiwis $5.17 per gallon there are some pretty healthy margins for some Arab oil well owners. If you have a bad days fishing say 3 fish at 60.00 of gas thats 20.00 a fish or .50c a mouthfull. My wife is getting suspicous about money dissapearing when the boats getting used a lot, she's waking up to the actual cost of boating. But its of such vital importance I must keep doing it. I'm a fishopathic killer. Hang the cost. Must check the weather!

Re: Price of Gas

Mike, I remind my wife that snapper is almost $30 per kilo and if I catch x8 fish myself at 3kg per then the take home fillet is about 1.5kg per. This makes it 12kg or $360 of fish. If my son catches similar then I'm laughing.
Vicki (my wife) always catches the biggest fish when she's with us, usually around the 3-4kg mark so I hapily tell her how much that sucker would've cost at the shop. Works every time.
That way I also have plenty to smoke as well.
Ross

Re: Price of Gas

So $5.17 per gallon x 12 gallons= $62.04. Throw in some 2 stroke oil and goodbye 70.00 bucks. Or hello boat ramp.

Where I live it depends on what day you buy. Thursday through Saturday morning is around 1.42 to 1.59 for 87 octane. Saturday afternoon to Monday morning 1.35 to 1.49. Monday afternoon to Thursday morning is down to 1.29 to 1.39. The state of Ohio says this is not price gouging even though the gas prices are always jacked up for the weekend paydays.

SS, that sucks. IS it the taxes that change or the gas stations that raise the prices? It would pay for itself to get a gravity feed tank and fill it up when the price is low. Here the prices are not stable. Every time there is a rumor of anything the prices go up. On September 11th, gas went up at some gas staton to $4.99 gal
Then state stepped in and gave those stations the option of giving the money back or having criminal charges filed against the station owners.

Scoop: The same thing happes here when some rumors start...

It also happens when there's a Hurricane bearing down... The hotels/motels even get in on the price gouging action when everyone moves inland.... The state gets after em', big time...

Name -brand 87 octane is currently $1.37 here. Ditto on the price gouging during natural disasters. Law enforcement is doing a good job of cracking down here. During our last hurricane, had no power for some time and some guys brought a truckload of ice in and were selling for $10.00 per bag in a local shopping center. Two deputy sheriff's pulled in, arrested them, and then made them watch while they gave the ice away.

$1.349 the .xx9 always kills me I think saying $1.34 would be better but you always have that .xx9. Of course when you start thinking about filling a 32 gallon tank on the truck which is at least 28 gallons empty it starts to hurt. Got 2 vehicles like that both of them usually a $40.00 fill up.

Re: Price of Gas

What really pulls my chain is the way they raise the price of gas on the weekends here. It isn't tax, it is the power of the price and demand. It doesn't affect me the way it does the people who live from payday to payday. Those of us that are lucky to have plastic can get their gas when it is the lowest. I understand that it is a commodity, but gee whiz, keep the same price at least weekly, not changing it every day.

The people that they make their money off of is the ones that struggle to make ends meet. Shame on them. Gotta go this subject really gets under my skin!

In Rhode Isalnd 87 octane is $1.49 as an average. I always gas up on Super Tuesday or Super whatever day they have. Gas is 5 cents off the regular price.

Re: Price of Gas

Norhtern Europe: First of all we have no fuel below 92 octane.

For 1.0 US gallon = 3.79 liter = 0.833 Imperial gallon we pay $4,03.

Add to this the two-stroke oil.

As always these figures should be hold against the local average level of income and other expenses.

How long would you have to work to be able to pay taxes etc. and have enough left for buying 12
gallons? Here a certified mechanic with standard taxing would have to do some 5.5 hours of labour.
