I have a 1972 Johnson 65 HP OB that has an aftermarket tilt/trim unit. The tilt motor mounts on the Starboard side of the OB and has a "swing arm" attached to the OB.

The hydrolic arm moves up and down when not under load. It moves the OB up and down some of the time. It gets stuck up sometimes and I have to turn a screw on the front of it to manually lower it.

I can not find any manuals on this setup so I am at a loss as to what to do to fix it. I am thinking that it may need fluid (I had a simular issue wiht my trim on an OMC Cobra drive). Can anybody tell me how to check the fluid levels and how to fill if needed?

I'll post pictures when I get a chance.

Thanks.

It's going to be hard to find any parts for this tilt system unless you can find used. There are no aftermarket parts for this system.

Sorry for the bad news. You might be better off replacing with a complete used system.

At this point..I am not even looking for aftermarket parts...just some idea if I need to add fluid...and if so...how.

Thanks.
