prestolite distributer hot

While adjusting the timing on friends boat, found that the distributer was very hot to the touch. It is a brand new prestolite with the electronic module where the points would be. Is this reason for concern? Volvo 290 DP with a small block 305. thanks fred

They get warm like the engine, but I don't recall them getting HOT.

double check the ign coil is the correct part number and that the sensor airgap is .010-.008".
