I have a 1957 10 hp sportwin motor, it hasn't run in 2 plus years. I got it all ready to go and after running for about 10 seconds it won't start again, the motor fire like it wants to start but won't. The air line from the connector is leaking air on the tank side, and I think maybe it's not getting enough fuel. I bought a tank rebuild kit that has the Orings for the adapter in it but I don't know how to get it apart to replace them. I saw a post somewhere about a special tool but I am unable to find it again. Anybody help me so I can get this motor going.

F_R makes a tool which makes this chore a breeze! Not sure if he still has them, PM him to find out. or I can PM you his website.

If not, find a rod (old allen key) which will fit through the barbed fitting. Insert it until it stops, then hit it with a hammer, knocking the assembly out from the front face. replace the o ring, then install it in reverse, tapping down on the brass bushing until it is flush.

Regarding your no start situation, while leaking o rings are a problem, they would not prevent the motor from starting.

To start, what is the compression?

Have you ensured you are getting good spark on both cylinders. Use an inline, open air adjustable spark tester set to 1/4", spark should jump this with a bright blue ZAPPPP

Spark is good and there is good compression. I believe it to be a fuel issue because it will fire, then won't for 5 or 6 pulls, and after I let it sit a bit it will do the same. I took the carb off to see if maybe the needle was stuck, and the carb had a lot of fuel in it, I put it back together and then it didn't act as if there was enough fuel, that's when I noticed the hose was leaking air. I am not a carburator expert, maybe I overlooked something when I put the new parts on.
