I recently got a well cared for, garaged 1953 Evinrude 15HP motor with a boat. The only problem is that the gas tank leaks out the bottom. From reading posts and doing research, i am not on the lookout for a new (to me) pressurized gas tank. I have found two OMC style pressure tanks but the connectors do not have the dual line fittings, can i just look for Evinrude/Johnson fittings that will bolt onto the OMC tanks? Is this too much of a stretch to do and should i just wait for a fairly good price on an Ebay tank? Thanks

Unfortunately you need a new to you presure tank. If the one you have leaks out the bottom I would not try and repair it. How ever you should save all the rest of the parts that make up the top and the connector. You can wait for a reasonable deal on Ebay. How ever if I were you I would start sailing, (garage saleing). I believe you will get your best deal this way. Once you obtain a choice example, get rid of the half tank full of nucular waste. Then clean it out and repair the entire unit with new gaskets and diaphram. Also the connector is rerpairable. These connectors are getting a little hard to come by, so don't toss them. If you do a complete overhaul on your tank it will last many more years.

gkauno,

I also believe that engine can be converted to a single hose (non pressure) system.

I know it involves installing a pulse type fuel pump, regualar OMC issue-nothing weird.

Someone will be along with the procedure and whether or not it will work on your engine. In the meantime, do a search on this board, using the search words: "pressurized tank conversion ".

so the two OMC tanks i have will not work? It does not look like a dual hose fitting on them, but can one be put on?
