Hi, I posted a while back about buying an old outboard to restore it, and many of you were adamant about me checking the motor for compression. Well, I didn't. I found a Johnson 115 (which is what I wanted) for $300 and toss caution to the wind. I pulled it home, ran a compression test, and all cylinders were at 120 psi. I tested it cold, but at 120 psi each cylinder cold, I think that I'm okay to proceed. So, the motor turns over.

Here are the steps that I am about to take: carb rebuild, new plugs, new impeller, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new fuel lines and then I'm going to fire her up. From that point, should I look to change out other gaskets or rebuild certain parts of the motor before I begin to restore the aesthetics?

I managed to score the only original Johnson's manual for my model that I could find. Should I consider anything else before cranking her post those initial steps?
