I have an 1988 4-Winn's 180 Horizon with an OMC Cobra 4.3 litre, 6 cylinder
engine/stern drive. Due to work, I have not run the engine, much less been
on the lake in over a year. What do I need to do before I crank it up to
ensure I don't have problems? I know to drain oil, etc., but my concern is
the innards of the engine (rings?), outdrive, etc. Also, I should probably
drain gas? I don't know if there is an easy access to gas other than a long
hose and siphon. I'll appreciate any submissions as I don't want to ruin
the engine cranking it.
Thanks.
Lou Georgieff

How much fuel is in the gas tank? If it is under 1/4tank, go ahaed and fill it with fresh fuel. Any more than that, drain it.If the engine is carborated, drain the bowl. Drain the fuel lines . Spray a short burst of WD40 into each cylinder, and into the carb body before cranking it.
Cross your fingers. (no really, you should be set).

I'd go ahead and change the lower unit lube as well. And when was that impeller last replaced? :D
