I have fiberglassed both sides of the plywood and have finally got the deck all screwed down and have a question. Does the plywood just need a 'scruff' sanding and wipe down for the outdoor carpet glue to adhere? or is there something special that needs to be done? thanks and on the sides of the boat it is almost impossible to get all the old glue off the aluminum. I have used grinders, wire brushes and sanders but i have a 'blotchy' surface that has occasional shiny spots of aluminum. do you have to get all the glue off to have the new glue stick or would it be better to do some heavy praying and use contact cement and hope I don't get ripples and bubbles. thanks

Hello fishkiller

Yup scuff it..clean it.. glue it :)

You should be fine with the rest if you get most of it off.
