Hi,

Many posts mention precoating the wood befor the actual application of the fiberglass / resin or epoxy application. I assume this is also the case for a bonding, or adhesive mixture.

I have not seen any information of how this is done. Does one apply the resin, absent the fiberglass / filler, and allow it to just set up befor laying down the cloth? Or, is the resin fully cured befor the the laying down process?

Thanks to anyone wishing to elaborate on this issue d:)

Re:

If your refering to fiberglassing any wood product or resin product yes the correct way would be to lay or apply the resin first, then apply the cloth after the resin becomes a bit tacky. On wood be generous with the resin, it wil absorb quite a bit sometimes and your looking for that and a generous layer on top, Id suggest you might find a how to manual.

Re:

Precoat would be a thin
mixed resin that soaks into
the wood to allow better adhesion
of full resin and cloth.
Aceton, MEK added to catalized
resin will thin it and allow it to
be soaked in.
