Just got back from hospital ... been a long day. Lee lost the 3 middle fingers, and Dr says he will have minimal use of thumb and pinkie. I was with Lee for 7 hours and no pain meds ... says it doesn't hurt (he does have a high pain threshold). He is in good spirits and his only complaint was that he would have to take off his shoe and sock to count to 10 ... would only be able to count to 7 on his hands!
He laughed and joked, and we had a great time today. He is looking forward to rehab and getting on with things. Just a GREAT attitude and outlook. Thanks for your prayers ... they are working! Dr said it appeared to be a lot worse (earlier nurse said they would have to amputate whole hand), but when they got in there it cleaned up well and for as horrific the trauma was, it was truly amazing the outcome. They feel that this will be the only operation needed - a "one and done."
