Looking to purchase a power pack for my 1995 150 HP Evinrude EXEOM. Looking online at Iboats, Boat Parts.net, eBay ect. What is with the price disparity?. New from 130.00 to 280.00. Is the quality the same or are some brands better and or worse than others? Mechanic says to use only the OEM. I say save 150.00. Is there any difference between BRP America, BRP Asia or BRP Australia parts as far as settings go?

I've used a lot of CDI products. Have never had a CDI replacement stator or ign box go bad.

Have your "mechanic" brush up on his product knowledge. The digital CDI units for the 60* E/J motors like yours are far superior to others including OE.

OEM powerpacks are made by CDI now.

The differences are the OEM model comes with the Johnson-Evinrude 1 year parts and labor warranty on the spot.

A pack purchased from a CDI dealer has a 2 year parts only warranty -- no labor or diagnostic time is covered -- and it has to be sent back to CDI for testing and approval before a replacement is issued.

CDI is making some of the OE packs, not all of them. It's supposed to be hush-hush, but I don't want a junk non-CDI pack to tarnish their rep so I'm going to speak up a little here.

CDI is the best, no contest. They actually re-engineer OE packs with modern technology and improve them.

I rebuilt the ignition on my '72 Johnson 65hp motor with CDI and Sierra parts several years ago - the motor starts every time and runs perfectly every time. In fact, I just parked the boat/trailer in the yard 15 minutes ago. Had a nice little ride on "da bayou" this afternoon.
